Equine Veterinary and Podiatry Services offers a complete Advanced Dentistry service throughout Southern California.  Dr. Amy Garcia is a veterinarian with extensive equine dentistry training who provides complete oral care, effectively treating and enabling the best outcomes for any mouth related issue.  From routine Wellness Dental Care to the diagnosis and treatment of Advanced Dental Issues, your equine companion and/or athlete will be well cared for. 

Dr. Garcia has the latest diagnostic technology at her disposal including Digital X-Ray and Oral Cameras enabling a quick, accurate diagnosis guiding the most effective treatment plan.  All necessary treatments are carried out using the most up to date techniques using state of the art equipment including:

  • Diamond burrs that effectively reduce necessary tooth only such as sharp enamel points while not cutting any soft tissue such as the cheeks, gums or tongue.  

  • Equine Water Pick effectively flushes out feed packing between teeth and in pockets on the gum line reducing infection and reducing need for extractions.

About Dr. Amy Garcia DVM

 

Dr. Amy Garcia grew up in Palos Verdes riding in the hunter jumper circuit in Southern California and has always known she wanted to be an equine vet.  Dr. Amy graduated from Western University of Health Sciences in 2009 and has extensive experience in equine practice, working for 2 years with one of the largest racetrack practices in the southern hemisphere as well as owning and operating an equine practice in Brisbane, Australia since 2011.  Dr. Garcia taught veterinary students on their clinical rotations at the University of Queensland and has written articles on veterinary topics for equine publications.  Dr. Garcia has completed many hours of equine practice continuing education with a keen focus in the area of Advanced Equine Dentistry.  Dr. Garcia is a member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) and the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).  Amy loves helping all types of horses and their owners through whatever medical conditions arise and is particularly skilled with dentistry.
