Lameness Evaluation

Providing the most accurate lameness localization possible starts by performing a systematic examination.  Our systematic exam is designed to obtain as much information as possible about the lameness and the location/s of pain in order to ultimately guide advanced diagnostics and a targeted treatment plan.  This is done through detailed history taking, gait evaluation performed on different surfaces, in a straight line and on a lunge, flexion testing, and performing nerve, joint or intralesional blocks.  The information obtained localizing the source of pain is then used to direct the location of X-Rays, Ultrasound, Venograms, CT, MRI, Etc.  The high quality images obtained using these techniques will likely give us a definitive diagnosis.  Now, with a diagnosis based on solid information, the most effective treatments and therapies can be targeted at the lesion including Corrective/Therapeutic Shoeing, or Joint or Intralesional Injections with PRP, IRAP, Stem Cells, etc., thus allowing high quality healing and the quickest return to soundness possible.
